When editing photos and working with illustrations there is two programs that come to mind Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. However these programs can be expensive and not worth the cost for a casual user. Gimp

Probably the best known Photoshop alternative is the Gimp. Unlike Photoshop all the updates are free and you can use it on Windows, Mac or Unix operating systems.

The software was started as part of a college project but has grown from there. Unlike Photoshop you won't need to pay an expensive licence fee to download the program, so there is no harm in giving it a go!

If you want an alternative to the expensive Adobe Illustrator software. Then why not give Inkscape software a go? The best thing is you can give it a try and all it will cost you is time.

One downside about free software is that you may be use to using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator so you will need to spend some time to learn how to use the new software you have chosen.
